Irises for my mother: 2015 (update)

Last year, I didn’t have much luck with my irises.
They sent up shoots, but there were no flowers.
This year …

… Yes that’s right —
there was one lone iris in amongst all the green shoots.

One is better than none, right?

It’s all the more beautiful for being the only one. You might try spreading a little bonemeal around or some other organic fertilizer – it might increase the blooms.

    You can use organics any time as they won’t burn and take a while to work down to the roots. I’d do right away to get a jump on next season. Mulching might help retain moisture and keep a more even temperature at the root zone, not to mention reducing competition from weeds.
