‘The words fell in strange and awkward shapes; they fell on me and into me,
and I was surprised how soothing they were.’
From ‘What the Light Hides’, by Mette Jakobsen
‘Twenty-One Words’ is a blog about books and birds and words.
Mostly, it’s about other people’s words and how I’ve responded to them: what other people have written, how their words make me feel, what they make me think. After all, words can make us laugh, cry, think, hope, dream, rage — but they have no meaning unless they are shared.
Here you will find a list of all the books (and other kinds of reading material) I’ve quoted from over the years, grouped into what I hope are helpful categories, according to what kind of reading material the quotes come from. The links below will take you back to the original post where you can read the words I quoted and find more details about the material itself.
